PLAY AND UPBRINGING

The four Bonde boys grew up on the nursery floor of the castle. They were James Fredrik and Blanche Dickson’s grandchildren, and Blanche and Carl Bonde’s children. The dark furnishing that characterizes the rest of the house is banished in the nursery, just like in the servant’s quarters. The rooms are light, with white painted panelling.

The children and their governess had three rooms and a bathroom. The main room was where the children were taught by their governess, and where all joint meals were eaten.

Today the nursery still has many of the Bonde children’s toys from the turn of the 20th century on show. There are also a number of Countess Bonde’s elegant dresses and accessories.
