By car

Tjolöholm Castle is situated about 40 km south of Gothenburg. From the E6/E20, take exit 58, towards Fjärås/Tjolöholm. Follow the signposts to Tjolöholm from there.

By bus

Take the train from Gothenburg to Kungsbacka, and then the 732 bus towards Frillesås. Get off at the ‘Torpa Smedja’ bus stop, from there it is a 3,5 km walk to Tjolöholm. You find timetables here.


The parking fee is SEK 40/4 hours, extra time SEK 10/hour (SEK 50/4 hours during the summer season). You can pay with coins, credit card or the app Easypark.


Quickstop offered for campers and caravans, but only on Tjolöholm’s parking lots for a fee of 185 SEK/night. Quick Stop parking is marked with a sign, on the right when you arrive to Tjolöholm. There are six places with electricity and three extra long places, a total of 15 places. Toilet and shower, open 24 hours a day, are located in the red house adjacent to the car park, about 150 meters from the parking spaces. A maximum of two days. In addition, there is no camping at Tjolöholm.


The castle’s ground floor is accessible to all, the upper floors can only be reached by the stairs. The castle´s gardens, shop, workers village, café Manegen and some parts of the nature area are easily reached mostly on gravel paths.

The castle shop and café Manegen have a permanent ramp while temporary ramps are laid out by staff for restaurant Storstugan and the chapel.

The castle shop and café Manegen are on one level, the other buildings have thresholds and steps. Disabled toilets are found in the castle shop and restaurant Storstugan, there is also a disabled toilet in the castle which is opened by staff. Please contact a member of staff for help.

A wheelchair accessible toilet is located by the car park and is open all year round. The swimming area is accessible to all and has a jetty with a handicap ramp.
