Experience the magic of Tjolöholm Castle

“It was like stepping into a fairytale, so different to anything else I had seen so far” said the young priest Gustaf Ankar on his first visit to Tjolöholm in 1904. Over a hundred years on, Tjolöholm is still a world of it’s own. The castle presides over the estate’s turn of the century style chapel, the village hall and the worker’s cottages. Let the magic of Tjolöholm become part of your wedding!

A moving service

The castle chapel, built in the Scottish style, makes for a moving service. From the church the bridal pair can take a horse and carriage to the castle, whilst the guests walk through the castle’s beautiful park. If you choose to have the wedding reception in the castle you can also exchange your vows in the castle’s main hall, in front of J. Kronberg’s famous painting “The Queen of Sheba”, or alternately on the lawn between the castle and the sea. A toast to the new couple can take place on the terrace in front of the castle, with a breathtaking view of the sea, or alternately beside a roaring fire inside the castle.

Formal dinner

Dinner is served in the castle dinning room, amongst stately paintings and ornaments. After dinner the music starts for dancing in the main hall. The dinning room sits up to 90 guests, but if you have a larger party there is also room for seating in the main hall. Events in the castle cannot begin until after 17.00 during the summer season, as the castle is open for tours during the day. We do not normally receive parties of less than 30 people.

Stay in an environment with great cultural history

The gatehouse cottage or the apartment above the former village hall are perfect locations for a romantic wedding night. The picturesque gatehouse is situated on the very edge of the forest, with views over meadows and the ocean.

On the second floor of the former village hall is the apartment, fitted with a wooden bathtub. In the evening we provide champagne and fruit, and in the morning a delicious country breakfast awaits.

In the former workers’ village on the Tjolöholm estate there are houses for guests to stay in. All the houses have their own gardens, and there are also four-poster beds, traditional Swedish tiled fireplaces, and wood burning stoves. There are currently thirtyfour beds in the workers’ village.
